Film vypráví o tom, jak Danny, zamčený v temném a strašidelném sklepě, objeví starou deskovou hru Zathura. Když se mu nedaří přimět bratra Waltera, aby si ji zahrál s ním, začne hrát sám. Už od prvního tahu je však jasné, že Zathura není jen tak obyčejná hra...
Mezi její další filmy patří Chyťte tu holku, Undertow, Cold Creek Manor a Životní jistoty.
Zazářila také ve dramatu Útěk do divočiny (into the wild/2007)kde si střihla roli mladé "hippísačky" Tracy Tatrové. Její výkon ve filmu sklidil velký úspěch a dobré ohlasy u kritiků.
Od 27.11.2008 jí můžeme vidět ve filmu Twilight (Stmívání) kde si zahraje jednu z hlavní role Isabellu Swanovou, která se vášnivě zamiluje do upíra Edwarda Cullena (Robert Pattinson).
Ale jak už to u Kristen bývá nejsou to zdaleka poslední filmy, které točí. Těšit se můžeme už na další filmové trháky

Dokonce se kvůli synově snu přestěhovali do Los Angeles, kde měl větší šance. Od té doby začal dostávat různé menší roličky. Zahrál si např. v episodách My wife and kids (2001), Kalifornské léto (Summerland) (2004) nebo The Bernie Mac Show (2001). Také namluvil pár rolí v kreslených seriálech.
První větší úspěch přišel v roce 2005, kdy Taylor dostal roli ve filmu Dobrodružství Žraločáka a Lávovky. V témže roce účinkoval ve filmu Dvanáct do tuctu 2. Ovšem zatím největší úspěch mu přinesl film Stmívání (2008).

Catherine Hardwicke, umělkyně, která se chtěla stát režisérkou a spisovatelkou, dlouho randila se Sethem Reedem a po rozdělení přišla s Nikki styku. V roce 2002 začala s Nikki spolupracovat na scenáři filmu. Nejprve z toho měla vzniknout lehčí komedie, ale vznikla Třináctka, který byl napsán vlastně podle skutečné události, kterou Nikki prožila. Nikki a Catherine dokončily dílo během 6-ti dnů o zimních prázdninách.
Film je částečně rebelský, autobiografický, dramatický a zobrazuje divoký život dívky, která se stává ženou a navazuje vztah k drogám, sexu, krádežím.. Hlavní charakter Tracy, který ztvárnila Evan Rachel Wood, byl vlastně vytvořen podle Nikki, která hrála divokou, rebelskou holku, která jí ve skutečnosti "zkazila".
Nikki je velmi talentovaná a po celkem úspěšném filmu natočila další, například: Legendy z Dogtownu, Úkladná vražda a také si střihla roli v americkém seriálu The O.C.
Koncem roku 2008 můžete Nikki vidět po boku Kellana Lutze v novém filmu Twilight (Stmívání). Kde si Nikki zahraje postavu andělské upíří krásky Rosalie Hale.
